Kenneth A. Reich is a nationally recognized environmental lawyer.  He represents corporate and institutional clients on a broad range of environmental and energy matters, in the federal and state courts and administrative agencies, and in sophisticated transactions.  He has handled both governmental and private hazardous waste cost recovery actions on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, including under the Superfund, represented clients in enforcement actions brought by federal and state governments in the areas of air pollution, water pollution, ground and groundwater contamination, underground tank leaks,  indoor air and worker safety.  He has conducted environmental due diligence and negotiated buy and sell agreements and financing of numerous sophisticated transactions.  He provides regulatory advice in all areas of environmental law and assists clients in establishing environmental management programs, including audits,  in a manner that provides the maximum degree of confidentiality for the results while allowing for proactive correction of compliance issues, including through state and federal audit disclosure programs.  He has been retained to provide second opinions and evaluations of existing or prospective litigation and has served as a litigation expert on environmental law.  Because of his prior service at the U.S. Department of Justice clients appreciate his expertise on how to deal with governmental agencies.

Mr. Reich spent seven years in the U.S. Department of Justice Environmental Enforcement Section as a trial attorney, then Assistant Chief where he handled and supervised government litigation across the country under all of the major federal environmental statutes. While at the DOJ, Mr. Reich received a number of outstanding performance awards and honors. Following his service at the Department of Justice, Mr. Reich was in a number of international, national and regional law firms prior to forming his own firm in 2010 in order to provide his clients with more personalized service.

Mr. Reich is a trained, experienced mediator and formerly was a member of the Commercial Arbitration Panel of the American Arbitration Association. In 2019 he was appointed to the Dispute Resolution Section Council of the Massachusetts Bar Assn.

Mr. Reich has taught environmental law, energy law and policy and alternative dispute resolution as an adjunct faculty at the Boston University School of Law.
