Combining more than 30 years of experience in environmental and commercial real estate law, Mark Beliveau works with clients to successfully manage environmental risk in the context of business operations, transfer and development of real estate and commercial transactions. Mark has extensive experience advising clients on state and federal environmental permitting, compliance and enforcement issues, soil and groundwater remediation, Brownfields, Superfund, and water resources. Mark has creatively found solutions to environmental problems by working constructively with responsible parties and regulators, by drafting and guiding legislation and, when necessary, by seeking relief through the courts.
Mark was the Managing Partner and CEO of the Hampton, New Hampshire law firm Sanders & McDermott before joining Pierce Atwood in 2003. At Sanders, he was the practice manager for that Firm’s Environmental and Real Estate practices.
Since his graduation from law school, Mark has counseled responsible parties in the investigative, remedy selection, allocation, settlement, remedial action and litigation phases associated with environmental matters and has served as chairman of PRP groups at 3 multi-party Superfund sites. Mark was been instrumental in obtaining cost-saving innovative remedies and settlement terms for his clients.
At the intersection of environmental and real estate law, Mark works with developers, buyers, sellers and lenders in all aspects of the development and transfer of real estate, including contracting, zoning and planning board approvals, New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee approvals, leasing, environmental due diligence, environmental site assessments, risk allocation and permitting.
